Neutral Light Switch.

The 450 neutral light is controlled by a pot type switch, on the left end of the shift drum, just above the clutch pushrod.

Test your light circuit by grounding the wire leading to the switch, with the key on.
      - If it doesn't light, your bulb or circuit are bad.

Some switches get filled with old chain oil....you may be able to clean out with PC board cleaner, from the electronics supply store.

    Case Saver.

Many 450s are damaged in the front/counter sprocket area, due to loose chains. Look for dings, or bent mount tabs.
      - You can install the case saver from a CB500T by grinding away about 1/16" of aluminum near the lower, front mount screw (of the countershaft cover).

If there are nicks in the shift shaft, the chain has jumped at some time. This is also a cause of poor shift lever return on 450s.

The case saver will not permit larger than a 17T countersprocket (stock is 15). You have to remove the case saver when using the 18T sprocket.
